Unemployment compensation (UC) is income support for workers who have lost their job through no fault of their own.
Should I apply for unemployment?
If any of the things happened to you, you should apply for unemployment:
Your hours have been reduced.
You have been temporarily laid off or your workplace closed.
You were fired when you refused to work in unsafe conditions.
You quit to avoid unsafe conditions.
If you are not sure you are eligible for unemployment, you should apply anyway. Unemployment will check your eligibility and send you a letter to tell you if you are or are not eligible.
