You will create a username and password to log into the online UC system. It replaced the old way of logging in with your Social Security Number and a PIN. This username and password are unique to the UC system. You will not be able to use them to log into any other Pennsylvania benefits system.

I heard a lot about Keystone ID, what is that?

When the new UC system launched in June 2021, a Keystone ID was used to log into the UC portal. If you have been using a Keystone ID username and password to log in to your UC portal, you can keep using that to log in. If you are using the UC portal for the first time, you will make your own username and password to login with.

I used a Keystone ID portal in the past to login to my UC portal, but now I get an error message every time I try to sign in with it. What should I do?

You will need to reset your password. The Department of Labor and Industry has made an instruction guide for how to do this.

After you login, the system will ask you if you want a message sent to the email address, or phone number, that is on file with UC.  That message will give you a code that you will need to enter before you can access your portal. 

If you no longer have access to the phone number or email address that are on file with UC, you will need to call the UC Service Center at 888-313-7284 (Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm EST) and select Option 3. A UC representative will manually update your contact information on your UC dashboard.

If you file your claims through the automated telephone system, you will continue to use your SSN and PIN.

When you go onto the UC website to apply for benefits, you will need to create an account. As part of that process, you will create a username and password.  We recommend also writing it down somewhere safe in case you forget it.

We recommend not using any identifying information, like your name or birth date, in your username or password.

You might already have a username and password if you previously logged into your UC portal using a Keystone ID.

No, you can always still file using the automated telephone system (Toll-free 888-255-4728, Español 877-888-8104). All you need is your SSN and PIN. You will continue to receive all UC notices by mail.

You will need to call the UC Service Center at 888-313-7284 (Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm EST) and request a PIN be mailed to you.

What if I cannot login to the new online system?

If you are unable to remember or retrieve your login, or have any other problem logging in online, you can file your claims by phone. You only need your SSN and PIN to file by phone.
